Police Officers ask Bikers for Help in Saving the Life of a 5 Year Old Boy

The Blue Knight Police Motorcycle Club is asking for bikers to help in their fight to save the life of Caden. Caden is suffering from a disease called Hunters Syndrome. Hunters Syndrome or Mucopolysaccharidosis Type II (MPS II), is an inherited disease that interferes with the body’s ability to break down long chains of sugar molecules (mucopolysaccharides). The condition is due to a lack of the enzyme which in turn causes an accumulation of glycosaminoglycans (GAG) in various body tissues causing severe damage. This buildup interferes with the way certain cells and organs in the body function and leads to a number of serious symptoms.

There is no cure for MPS diseases, but there are ways of managing and treating the problems they cause, including enzyme replacement therapies.  Eric Decker, a representive of the Blue Knights Chapter II said, “Caden is a 5 year old boy who would love nothing more than to live a normal life like other children his age. The little things that people take for granted all their lives are the things that Caden has to fight to accomplish daily.”

Blue Knights Illinois Chapter II is hosting its Holy Grail/Caden’s Palooza motorcycle run on September 5, 2010. The event begins at the Woodstock-Harley Davidson 2050 S. Eastwood Drive, Woodstock, IL.  Registration begins at 9:00am the first bike is out at 10:30am. The cost is $25.00 per bike. There will be door prizes, cash drawings, free food, and live entertainment by the 28 days band and Field Day.  Proceeds from this event will benefit Caden’s Courage.

We are asking anyone who has an interest in making Caden’s life more manageable and pain free, to come out and show your support. If you have a motorcycle, please come ride with us; if you don’t, join the fun at the end of the ride and meet Caden in person We’re only asking you to take a few hours of your time to help Caden celebrate his life, we hope to see you there.
